About

I like to deeply touch and connect with others. I have a particular affinity for people who have endured trauma and who feel like they are outsiders.

My empathy is grounded in my own life. I grew up in a family directly impacted by alcoholism and have experienced the effects of addiction in many different types of relationships. I also lived in many places, encountering many cultures, and felt like a rootless outsider. I am profoundly grateful for those experiences. Without those challenging lessons I would not have had the opportunity to examine and discover myself. Those difficult lessons were catalysts; they sparked off a reaction within me which led me to seek change, change that would ultimately strengthen and empower me.

It is an honor to support and guide my clients through their own processes of self-transformation.

I am a life long student of the human psyche. As an undergraduate I studied Theatre. In 1994 I earned a masters degree in counseling from San Francisco State University. I specialized in the field of addiction: prevention, treatment and aftercare, working with a wide range of ages from middle-schoolers to adults. When my beautiful daughter entered my life, I left counseling to parent her and to focus on creative pursuits. I built and ran a successful event and floral design company and then returned to counseling nine years ago.  My experiences in Theatre and as a florist/business owner strengthen me as counselor both by drawing out creative aspects and realistically encouraging my clients in achieving their goals.

My general practice focuses on helping clients find their "voice" and connection in the world, including the world of work. I specialize in working with adult children of alcoholics.

I believe part of my life's purpose is to continually seek opportunities to learn and evolve. Currently, I am in the process of finishing a certification in clinical hypnosis from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and Sandplay Therapy.

I welcome the opportunity to empower you in your life journey. I believe that you are more than good enough, you are lovable, and you have unique gifts to offer the world.
